New NHS Dental Practice Opening in
Dolgellau
Mervinian House Family Dental
Practice, a new NHS dental practice, is opening in Dolgellau on Monday November
10th.
This will be the 13th NHS
dental practice to be opened in Wales by Denticare Limited which has been
helping Local Health Boards to “keep Wales smiling”.
The practice, which is
situated at Mervinian House, Meyrick Street, Dolgellau, is in an old listed,
period building which was in a poor state of repair and has undergone sensitive
refurbishment at a considerable investment by Denticare Limited.
Denticare Director Rob
Kedwards explains:
“We hope people in
Dolgellau will be pleased to see this well-equipped practice. We will have to
ask them to bear with us initially as obviously there will be a backlog of
people in need of treatment and it will take some time for us to make
appointments for all. Emergencies appointments will however be available for people
who are in pain through dental health problems.”
People who would like to
register their interest as patients can do so from 05 November on line via http://www.denticarelimited.co.uk/form.html,
by collecting Registration Forms from the practice or the Community Health
Council at Arran House, Arran Road, Dolgellau, or by telephoning the practice
on 01341 423786.
“What we want to avoid
is people queuing up to register on our opening day - so the more people who
can register in advance the better. But don't worry - there are plenty of
places available and there will also be a waiting list,” added Rob.
Pat Billingham, Chief Officer
of Meirionnydd CHC was involved in highlighting the need for NHS dentistry in
the area she said: ”One of
the most frequent complaints we get from residents in Meirionnydd is the
extremely limited access to NHS dental care. We have been lobbying for the
commissioning of more dental services in the county for a long time so we are
obviously delighted that Denticare are opening shortly in Mervinian House. The new practice will not only benefit
Dolgellau but our surrounding rural communities. We have already received a
substantial number of enquiries about the new practice and anticipate there
will be a significant demand so are very happy to help in the registration
process.”
Chris Couchman of Gwynedd
LHB, the commissioners of the new service, said: “Meirionnydd was
identified as a priority for new dental services, and we are very pleased to be
working with Denticare Limited to provide local NHS dental care to the people
of Dolgellau and the surrounding areas.”
